Agada Tantra, an essential component of Ayurveda’s eight clinical branches (Ashtanga), is the specialized field of clinical toxicology. Historically, this branch played a pivotal role in popularizing Ayurveda globally, with its renowned snake bite management garnering acclaim from explorers and leading to the translation of Ayurvedic scriptures into various languages, attracting scholars to India for study. The discipline of Agada Tantra comprehensively examines a range of toxicological conditions, including those originating from animate and inanimate sources, as well as diseases with inherent toxic pathologies, allowing its principles to be applied effectively to numerous contemporary health issues.
Vision
Agada tantra envisions the protection of life through the timely identification and effective management of poisons and toxins. It empowers scholars with the knowledge of detoxification, forensic principles, and preventive measures to uphold public health and justice.
Mission
- To impart comprehensive knowledge of toxicology, including identification, classification, and management of various poisons (Visha) as per Ayurvedic and modern principles.
- To develop clinical skills in diagnosing and treating poisoning cases using Agadadravyas (antidotal substances) and emergency management protocols.
- To integrate forensic and medico-legal understanding, enabling students to contribute effectively to legal investigations and public health safety.
- To promote research and innovation in the field of toxicology for the discovery of new antidotes, formulations, and preventive strategies against poisoning.

- Guest lecture was conducted by Dr Santosh F patil, Associate Professor from KAHER’S Sri BMK Ayurveda Medical College, Belgavi on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on May 31st 2025
- Model Competition was conducted for 2nd professional BAMS students on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on May 31st 2025
- Awareness programme will be conducted on June 26th on the occasion of Substance Abuse Day.
