Specialized Therapeutic Procedures for Eye and ENT Disorders
Kriya Kalpa is a specialized branch of Ayurvedic therapy focused on the management of various eye disorders through seven unique and time-tested procedures. These therapies aim to address both acute and chronic ocular conditions while promoting ocular health and rejuvenation.
Seven Classical Kriya Kalpa Procedures:
- Tarpana: In this procedure, medicated ghee is retained over the eyes using a specially constructed boundary made of dough. It nourishes the eyes, strengthens ocular tissues, and is particularly beneficial in preventing early-onset refractive errors, eye strain, and degenerative retinal conditions.
- Seka (Netra Seka): A continuous stream of medicated liquid is gently poured over closed eyes from a fixed height (approximately 4 inches) for a specific duration. This treatment is primarily indicated in acute inflammatory conditions of the eyes.
- Ashchotana: In this therapy, medicated eye drops are instilled into the eyes from a height of about 2 inches. It is useful in treating infectious and allergic eye conditions, providing immediate soothing and antimicrobial effects.
- Anjana: A medicated ointment or powder is applied to the inner margin of the eyelids. This procedure helps cleanse the eyes and is beneficial in various ocular conditions, especially where detoxification or local stimulation is needed.
- Pindi: A medicated herbal paste, wrapped in a thin cloth, is placed over the closed eyelids. This is used for reducing inflammation and relieving pain in a variety of ocular disorders.
- Bidalaka: Medicated paste is directly applied over the eyelids. It is indicated in conditions like Stye, Chalazion, and inflammatory swellings, helping reduce congestion and promoting healing.
- Putapaka: Similar to Tarpana, but instead of ghee, herbal extract juices prepared through a specific Ayurvedic technique (Putapaka) are used. This enhances ocular nourishment and detoxification, especially in degenerative conditions.
Additional Kriyakarma Therapies for ENT Disorders:
In addition to the above eye therapies, the Kriyakarma unit also administers specialized Ayurvedic treatments for ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) conditions:
